Apple last Friday introduced the iPhone 14 Plus, a new 6.7-inch device that replaces the prior-generation iPhone 13 mini. The iPhone 14 Plus marks the first time that Apple has sold a more affordable larger-screened iPhone that is not classified as a "Pro" model since the company started debuting four smartphones at a time.

MacRumors editor Dan Barbera spent a full week using the iPhone 14 Plus to see how it fits in Apple's iPhone 14 lineup and whether it's worth considering over other iPhone 14 options.

The iPhone 14 Plus is an iPhone 14 but with a bigger battery and a bigger screen. It has no features that are not available in the iPhone 14, so it's worth picking up only if you want that larger screen.

At $899, it's $200 cheaper than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but it lacks ProMotion display technology, an always-on display, a faster processor, and more advanced camera technology including a 48-megapixel Main lens and a Telephoto lens. If you don't care about these features, you can save $200 by picking the Plus over the Pro Max, but if you want all the bells and whistles, it's not worth the savings.

Make sure to watch the full video to see Dan's thoughts, and let us know what you think of the iPhone 14 Plus in the comments below.

During early iPhone days, they used to be enough novelty to want to upgrade every year. Then during S series boom, upgrading every two years was a good deal. Now, I’d say, we have entered the era of upgrading every 3 years, considering the increased prices and lack of actual new things YoY.

What widget is that?

Same price as a pixel 7 pro which is like 5-6 years ahead of this thing. The iPhone 14 plus should start at 299.
$299. No way! That’s never going to happen. This is Apple we are talking about. This phone may interest your needs.

I’ve had one for a few days. It’s a great iPhone, i don’t understand all the hate around it.
I had a 12 Pro and switched to this and it’s a perfect fit. The battery life is crazy compared to the Pro. iOS 16 killed that phone.
But i live in the EU and the price of the Max was just outrageous. Plus to me, 120 hz, AOD, dynamic island and a 48mp camera in Raw only are just not worth the extra money.
Compared to the 12 Pro, the weight is more evenly balanced. One thing i wasn’t expecting is that the screen is just much better than the 12. The Pro looked so dim and yellow compared to this, and the 14 gets so much brighter. They improved the brightness control, much more range throughout the slider.

Funny to read about the Plus being a flop and only sell in the millions. Companies only dream of this stuff haha.

For the price that thing is Ana amazing value, even looks like an iPhone.

Same here!!

1. In non-US markets the plus is an attractive offer. Bigger screen and improved cameras will find customers.

2. I don’t understand why like in many videos there is no quick comparison to the iPhone 12 (regular). Although it is mentioned that likely most customers will buy the a 14 with a 24 month plan.
Most of them will come from a 12 and not from a 13 or an 11.

First world problems here. Imagine offering the iPhone 14 Plus to some in 2019 vs iPhone 11 Max? I am sure they are gonna choose the 14 Plus. Considering how long people keep their phones these days, it might make sense just to go with the premium models.

I still don't know why Apple bothered to go with this strategy though. Its like they thought people are gullible about these things.
