This is an underrated new feature.

Mouse support along with being able to use the files app and usb drives like you can on a desktop the iPad is like 98% of an actual MacBook.

Yes indeed eyeseeyou.
Though I have yet to see proof the the Files app works as it should...

“Works as it should” in what way? In the way you want it to work or in the way Apple advertised it will work?

I connected a mouse to try it out. First tried a recent Magic Mouse that I have never used but could not get it to connect. Either it does not work or is not compatible, dont even know if it has Bluetooth. Then I tried my MX Master like in the video. It’s not for me. The very slightest movement of the mouse, the cursor flies across the screen. Maybe this will be adjusted but without a speed setting its difficult to use like on a Mac. I will give it time and come back again but for now my experience is better with touch.

Did you adjust the cursor speed? There’s a reference to that in the video.

The cursor sucks! Not an arrow and too big.
gsmirnot - watch how to change mouse settings in the video.
And yes the cursor is a big round finger shape right now, hopefully that will be sorted by the time Destein gets released in the fall

I did not but have now, much better. One thing mentioned in the video is the natural scroll direction which I don't like but can live with for now.

Wonder why I cannot connect a Magic Mouse. I verified it works with my Mac but I cannot see it on my iPad at all. I can connect it with a cable but as you know the cable is on the bottom so no use while charging cable is connected. Maybe this will be a future item or I am doing something wrong.

If it’s the original mouse might be an issue with an old version of Bluetooth

It came with a 2017 iMac along with a Keyboard 2. (lightning charged)
I can see it in my Mac bluetooth list but cannot connect to the iPad. So far.

I hope this feature will stay when 13 is released. This makes an iPad more or less a complete alternative to Laptops and Computers for average users. I only use my laptop sometimes for text work, when i need to format something. I think that doesn’t work that good with touch gestures only.

And when the new desktop browsing in 13 comes, it makes sense to use a mouse. I often had it that in pop up menus i couldn’t scroll, but maybe this will be possible now with mouse support.

For me it’s great, i don’t need to buy a new laptop, i just need a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and i am ready to go, with a complete silent and fast system. Probably even games will get a push by this new mouse feature. Lots of strategy games and adventures are much more fun with a mouse.

I wonder if a bt keyboard with a built in trackpad would work? Like this keyboard: https://smile.amazon.com/Foldable-Bluetooth-Keyboard-Jelly-Comb/dp/B07DC3MJ21/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=bt+keyboard+with+touchpad&qid=1559768142&s=gateway&sprefix=bt+keybo&sr=8-
Anyone try something like this?

Edit: So just for the heck of it, I bought this keyboard. And... the trackpad works perfectly. Im guessing it is a bug for now, but while i am typing this with the bt keyboard, the onscreen keyboard is still present. but the trackpad works nicely. and there is a slider to adjust the speed.
