"How close the mockups are to the real thing won't be known with 100% confidence until Apple officially releases the iPhone 17 series sometime this coming September."

I see to believe it. ty

I suspect the Air to be fully metal with exception of that camera bar where all the wireless tech will be fit into. I highly doubt Apple will do a super thin phone with a glass back. It would have to be metal.

Well, that’s pretty ugly imo. Oh well, my 15 Pro Max shows no signs of slowing down other than it’ll probably need a new battery next year.

Why does the iPhone 17 have a retro look, yet the Pro and "Air" have the new look? Shouldn't they all have the same look, not one going back a decade in time?

I don’t mind if this was to take the back off to change the battery without taking the cover off the camera I don’t like taking the back off to change it when it means exposing the camera lenses to dirt etc.

I’m still skeptical. These designs make literally no sense, they’re all lose and no win. I can’t stand them, they’re awful.
We’ll see what happens in September.

And I continue to feel better each and every year, about my decision to ditch the iPhone for Android (for foldables) back in 2021. I owned every iPhone from the 4 to the 12PM, but I don't understand how people can keep buying the same phone year after year after year, with an OS that continues to go downhill.
Most people tend to buy a new phone every 3-6 years, so the improvements are palpable, when they change. I switched from iPhone to Android in 2012, switched back to iPhone with the 13 Pro, iOS just seems to get better, and I don't waste hours trying to de-Google the phone...

YouTuber iDeviceHelp on Friday posted a video that shows off mockups of Apple's forthcoming iPhone 17 models that are purportedly based on "internal documents." We're sharing the video here since it was made in collaboration with leaker Majin Bu, who last month published similar iPhone 17 renders that were widely corroborated by separate leakers with links to Apple's Chinese supply chain.

Apple plans to significantly revamp the camera design on its upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models, moving away from the familiar square camera bump to a distinctive aluminum camera bar that spans the device's width, according to recent reports.

The redesign extends to the new iPhone 17 Air model, which is set to replace the Plus variant in Apple's lineup. Based on the mockups, buttons on the device appear to be all in the same places as iPhone 16 models. Several moments in the video provide a hand-held comparison of the iPhone 17 Air with the other models in the lineup.

Apart from one outlier report last week, most rumors suggest the iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch display, which means it will be larger than the iPhone 17 but smaller than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the iPhone 17 Air will be 5.5mm thick at its thinnest point, which likely means it will have a 5.5mm chassis with a thicker rear camera bump area.

In contrast to the other models in the lineup, the base iPhone 17 is expected to maintain the current camera design language seen in the iPhone 16 series, helping to further differentiate Apple's premium and standard offerings.

Apple supply chain analyst Jeff Pu last month said the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will all be equipped with aluminum frames. However, Pu expects Apple's rumored iPhone 17 Air model to have a titanium frame. Apple introduced titanium as a feature for its Pro models in 2023, but Pu said Apple plans to use aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro models due to environmental considerations.

Apple has reportedly tested a wireless reverse charging feature for the iPhone 17 Pro models that would make the iPhone capable of delivering power to other Apple devices. Notably, iDeviceHelp questions whether Apple will be able to fit MagSafe magnets into the iPhone 17 Air due to the sheer thinness of the device.

How close the mockups are to the real thing won't be known with 100% confidence until Apple officially releases the iPhone 17 series sometime this coming September.

Looks like John Prosser was right and he got ridiculed for it, the camera lay out on the Pro is not my cup of tea, so based on that, I shall probably hold off with an upgrade

I guess if this is what the Pro will look like, I'll get used to it. I would prefer the lenses don't jut out of the camera bump, or better yet, the whole back is flush and use the space below the camera for a bigger battery
Exactly, if they are going to spread it across the whole back of the device, why not use that to make it stable, when it is placed on a flat surface?

With all the extra room on the camera bump I would like to see Apple explore adding a Xenon flash for the Pros, it's just on a completely different level for low light photography than what LEDs can manage.

Still dont understand why iPhone Air would be $100 more than normal 17, replacing the plus with one less camera lens.

Why not call it iPhone 17e Plus.

With that gawdawful camera hump, Apple has ensured I'll never consider buying an iPhone 17 Pro.

Avoiding the fact that it’s time to move on, Steve would be baffled but the number of variations on each product line. iPhone air will be interesting, though.

For me-it’s because I’ve had an iPhone since its inception. Tried android several years back and while IOS isn’t without its faults, ANDROID OS was trash in my opinion. I found it buggy, sluggish and the app stores seems like the black market. I agree I’d love more innovation from Apple on the hardware, at the end of the day Apple is easy for me.

The 17 Air is the only strange one of the bunch.Doesn't even look like it was designed by a professional designer with that band completely across the top with only one camera for seemingly no good reason. Just odd.
