I'm not sure why you think a person should only be paid enough to live paycheck to paycheck until old age and then drop dead because that's what it sounds like you're hinting to. If you've been working for decades then obviously you earned it. Like Randy. It sounds like you're saying I'm going to have to pay for poor old lazy Randy Ubilos since he's retiring at 50.

The fact of the matter is he was paid a good salary for his work. Would be nice if standards were raised to where more workers were paid a larger share of profits made by companies.

If you read the guy I was quoting, we're past talking about Randy. I know he's not going to have any financial problems for the foreseeable future.

Everyone should work 24 hours per week and retire when they're 50.

Sorry to say it - that's just idiotic and plain stupid. If you know just a tiny bit about economics, you would know this would be a major disaster. Take a look at Southern Europe. They have been using a lot of this model for years and Greece, Spain and Italy (love that country by the way!) are close to bankruptcy! It's not a solution to just tell people to do less just because we have unemployment.

Randy and Nonlinear

Despite some folk getting upset about their own use of Final Cut Pro X or iMovie 10, there is no denying what an immense impact Randy has had on professional nonlinear editing. From his time At SuperMac creating ReelTime, then Adobe Premiere Versions 1-3, then Macromedia with KeyGrip and Final Cut and finally all of the Final Cut Pro releases at Apple post -1999, Ubillos' work has empowered millions of editors and broadly helped democratised a once closed club.. There's a good history of all of this at the Timeline Analog books on Amazon or iTunes

These are the people who made apple what it is today, I like what they're doing and don't like seeing them go, for fear someone will come in and make poor decisions.

Apple has such a unique culture, a few changes in employees won't change that anytime soon.

So can we trash FCP X now and get FCP 7 with 64bit support and multicore support?

That would've been awesome. Unfortunately as you know, FCP7 is EOL and dead. FCP7 should've had it's last update with 64-bit support, 4K, & multi-core support; iZotope presets, BMD 3-way CC, and Avid-style tools.

If I had to go back to fc7 I would start to cry. 64-bit or not.
PS 3-way cc has been around a few years in fcpx. Color finale plugin
