Same issue here with my iPhone 12 mini. Expecially in slo mo videos, even locking focus and exposure. I filmed the same scene with my old original iPhone SE and the result is perfect, smooth and professional. With iPhone 12 mini same video is horrible, flickering made it totally “amatorial“.

Can someone do this test attached. I'm getting some bad light flicker, even more so with HDR. This is on my 12 Pro, HDR off as it makes it worse. My iPad Pro 9.7 does not do this. I have played with the settings and while some minimize it, its still there. See flashes on the wall.

Edit, the clip below is just a test to show it, the light flicker has been distracting and stealing focus on the shot of indoor filming including some good natural lighting. Goal is not to get a nice video of the wall. ☺️. I'm trying to rule out if its just my unit.

Exactly what is happening to me as well. Was an iphone xr owner previously- best iphone Ive ever had. I just brought the 12 pro max home the other day and immediately noticed this glaring flaw in the first video I took. It was an outdoor overcast day. Problem: flickering areas, white balance changing constantly- warm, cold, warm, cold, warm. Just ugly and disappointing. Another problem Ive found right away was over-sharpening and high noise reduction applied to all photos with no way to disable even with pro raw mode. What in the world Apple?

There is no way this should be happening. I have reached out to their support in a few different ways. So far they have not been able to offer any solutions or even advised they are aware and working on a potential fix. This video from my basement is terrible.. especially for a high end device like this. I have tried all video settings and all three lenses but they all have this effect. Does anyone have a 12 device that this does not happen on? If anyone finds a solution please share! This video was shot with AE/AF Lock activated.

I have exactly the same problem since receiving my new iPhone 12 Pro Max back in November. Occurs with all settings including with HDR set to off and in 1080p 30fps. I went to the Apple Store today here in Vienna to have a Genius look at it only for him to confirm that he has the same issue with his iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I am incredibly disappointed with Apple as now many of my most precious family moments have this horrible flicker. My 5 year old iPhone 6s plus has perfect video in comparison.

I feel ripped off. I will wait one more month and if Apple does not release a software update to fix this, I will be returning my iPhone and switching to Google Pixel.

Hi all, is this the same issue (noticeable in the clouds)? It’s driving me crazy

I followed up with Support and asked them to escalate it, which they did. The escalation engineer told me that they are aware of the problem but that it depends on how many people who report it as to how fast they will fix it. He said that it should be fixable via a software update.

They use a voting system to triage reported problems. So I would recommend you to follow-up with Apple support and insist that this video quality is not acceptable. I mean I paid 1,400 EUR for a phone that takes worse video than my 5 year old iPhone 6s... and Apple market the iPhone 12 as cinema level video. Its a joke.

Apple said the 12 Pro Max Ultra Extreme Supreme iPhones have the best cameras ever and I believe them

What’s wrong with iPhone 12 series? What just happened? Bad camera and bad screen.
Apple is getting lazy! I don't know how they can ship a phone with that type of problem and then not admit it. If that happened where I work, the whole team responsible would be fired.

Customers will eventually speak with their feet if Apple continues like this.

I just sent Apple a feedback saying this flickering is giving me a headache and making me dizzy.

Same flickering here on my 12 Pro Max. But I noticed that it only happens when I’m shooting running or shaking a little. It’s like the image stabilization system is causing this. Take a look in this video. I started shooting steady and then I started shaking. What do you guys think? This also happens with Exposure locked. In the second video I was running and shaking a lot. Terrible flickering.
