Videos stop playing after 2 seconds in Safari

Recently I've found that videos will start to play then stop after 2 seconds when I view them in Safari. No problem viewing them in Chrome. If I remember correctly, restarting the computer fixed this problem a few weeks ago but I shouldn't have to do that. Any idea why this is happening?
