Viewing a new e-mail on iPad updates unread count on iMac instantly

Last night I noticed that when I read a new e-mail on my iPad, the unread count on my iMac was updated instantly. How is it possible that it happens so fast? Is it not going through the MobileMe servers? Is it doing it over my Wi-Fi connection? 😕

Nothing is "instant." It just happens faster than you can perceive.
