viewing attachments in Mac mail

    I need help. I am trying to view Mac mail attachments sent to me by in Mac mail.
    I can't see where they are when they arrive! or when they should be. there is no place where they are or should be? I am completely lost and need to read them.
    please help me.

    Hold your mouse over the "header" area of the email message. Do you see a gray popup appear with icons for Trash, replying/forwarding and attachments (paperclip with a number)?
