I have an G3 iMac running Panther, with 512 MB RAM, and 500 MHz processor. When I use the Finder to view Icons (Thumbnails) of JPG images it takes FOREVER to load the thumbnails...we're talking an hour or so for a folder containing 300 pics!. I have the same folder on my Windows Xp laptop and the thumbnails display almost instantaneously. Admittedly the Xp machine is higher spec (1.8GHz with 768 MB RAM), but shouldn't the Mac be able to display thumbnails without grinding to a halt !?. Any suggestions as to why it takes so long would be appreciated.
