Viewsonic NX2232w

I am considering buying the viewsonic NX2232w, but I see on their website that its native resolution is 1680x1050, but it says that for macs it is "Mac® Power Mac" G3/G4/G5 up to 1280x1024". Why is this, and what it look like?

Can't answer your first question, but in answer to the second, 1280 x 1024 is a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution and as a result everything will look stretched out, like a regular TV programme on a widescreen display.

so why does it appear in widescreen for PCs but stretched on Macs. is there anyway to fix this?
