Vintage iBook G4 with 2 problems

My problem relates to woard processing. Before I start to type I get that infernal revolving multi colored pin wheel and when I am typing the cursor jumps to another part of the text! Then get stuff l did not type like I got in this piece! I basically cannot word process as it takes forever and I often lose all I typed! I errors in this were created by my Ap;ple! 😡
