Does anyone know if we will be able to purchase the verizon iphone without a contract? I'd really like to do this and I'm sure there are others.

I looked it up as well... I have seen several places say $599 for the 16Gb and $699 for the 32Gb. Only way to know for sure would be to call them though.

According to Verizon you can, although I don't think they've announced a contract-free price yet.

Verizon FAQ said:
Do I need to sign up for a 2 year agreement?

When purchasing iPhone at the 2 year promotional price a new agreement is required. However, you will also have the option to purchase iPhone at full retail price, which will not require you to sign a long-term agreement.

no price given yet. Likely the same as att $599 and $699

That's just crazy enough to work 😱

From what I seen, the iPhone for non VZW customers won't be available until 02/10 so you have some time to wait before making your decision.

Not any crazier that a Verizon phone being released over a year ago 🙂

This makes me glad it comes out a month from now; though I can preorder in a 3 weeks. I already have enough for an iPhone 4 on contract, going to try to save enough for an off contract one before it comes out in February. Then perhaps sell it in June for a subsidized iPhone 5 which I won't mind being in a contract for as much.
