This is the plan that I currently have with my 4S and I sometimes have to pinch myself to actually believe that I only pay $30 per month after getting ass raped by AT&T and Verizon for the past 5 years.

Good if you are a light internet user only though. I couldn't stand how slow EDGE is.

Virgin Mobile does not have access to Sprint's roaming agreement with Verizon. Hence, it cannot roam on Verizon in the ~65% of the US that is covered by Verizon and not Sprint for CDMA. However, by federal law, a compatible network and phone, regardless of service or roaming, must be able to dial 911, hence the name SOS-only. Outside of Sprint's native area, a VM phone will show SOS-only and the bars from a Verizon tower. You can't do anything except dial 911.

Thanks for the clarification

I'm one of the converts too. I average 3-4GB per month in data usage. I haven't had any major issues. Is it a slower connection, yes a bit but it's been reliable. I'm even using the HTC One V at the moment and find myself completely happy with the cell service.

Iive in South Florida.

Theirs must be defective. The customer reviews on virgins website say otherwise.

We went through 2 units and eventally ended up with the One V. Being an entry level phone it's been much more reliable than the Evo.

You also need to put into consideration the rest of the lineup on VM. The phones on VM outside of the Evo and now iPhone are spec wise pieces of crap. So when they come from their junk LG Optimus then yeah the Evo seems like it's the best thing ever.

I chose Straight Talk

So, I decided that an unlocked phone made more sense and that AT&T's larger coverage area was worth the additional $15 a month. I bought my iPhone yesterday at the Roseville Galleria store and thought I could just stop at Walmart and pick up a sim card, however it doesn't work that way. You have to order it online and they ship it to you and require a signature. The sim card won't be here until Friday.

I know that the launch of the next iPhone is imminent but I'm going on vacation next month and would really like a reliable gps, something my crappy android phone doesn't have.

Hopefully the number porting goes well...

So, I finally got my sim from Straight Talk, put it in and 6 hours later my iPhone started working. I got the APN working ok so data is fine, but haven't yet tackled the MMS issue.

I love this thing! My android phone had a poor quality screen and it was slow and buggy, much less the fanfare for VM every time I turned it on. iCloud has turned out to be a much cooler thing than I imagined it would. I love that my iPad and iPhone are synced all the time.

Buying the unlocked version will make it easier to sell and I'll probably get more money for it if I upgrade to the next iPhone. I'm glad I didn't wait as my vacation will be much more enjoyable next month now that I have a fully functioning phone on a larger network.
