there aren't enough details in your post to tell whether or not the game is playable. A nice detail would have been what game you are attempting to play.

If you have the discs shouldn't your question be "Will I need a serial number to play <NAME OF GAME>?" Virtual CD emulation has nothing to do with if you can just play the game since you could play it from the actual disc. However virtual disc emulation could affect playing the game without the actual disc, but you didn't mention anything about that.
