I'm looking for VLAN (VPN) software - software that allows remote computers to be connected on the same LAN, e.g. Hamachi and ZeroTier. Then I can use Microsoft Remote Desktop to connect from my Mac to a Windows PC at my (small) office.

Hamachi is not actively developed and isn't compatible with M1 Macs. ZeroTier is pretty slick, but it's prone to breaking. It works great for a couple weeks, and then one day it doesn't anymore, or decides to disconnect every 20 minutes.

I've googled, but most alternatives are no longer actively developed for the Mac. Anyone know of a VLAN that's up-to-date on Macs/Windows besides ZeroTier?

(p.s. I'm not looking for products like LogMeIn, TeamViewer, RealVNC, etc. - I already know all about those options. Also,"VPN' software like Surfshark and ExpressVPN that I researched does not allow for setting up a VLAN - but please share if you know one of those type that does).

Thanks!

You're using the term VLAN incorrectly - that refers to 802.11q network segmentation protocol. If this were me in a production environment I would absolutely not route LAN traffic through an external service, that seems like a huge security vulnerability.

Is there a firewall at the workplace that could offer IPsec tunneling, or a server you could set up Wireguard or similar on?

Thanks, but not looking for alternatives to our setup. Looking for drop-in replacements to what Hamachi and ZeroTier provide. I don't think there are any that are actively developed, but figured it was worth a shot asking here.
