Virtualize over Snow Leopard 32bits

Hi, I am trying to create virtual machines on Snow Leopard on a Macbook 1.1 (A1181) and I cannot find an application that works for 32 bits.

My mac's processor is Intel Core Duo (T2500 "Yonah") and he has VT-x instructions for virtualization.

I have looked at many legacy options of Virtualbox, VMware, Pararells ... but I can't find one valid for 32bits.

Do you know any valid application for 32bits?

On my Snow Leopard Macs I use VMware Fusion 3.1.4 - download both the full and light versions here - https://customerconnect.vmware.com/downloads/details?downloadGroup=FUS-314&productId=151&rPId=2456
I'm not sure if you still need to purchase a license though 😉

Parallels Desktop 6 and VMware Fusion 3.1.4, respectively, are the last versions to run on 32-bit i.e. Core Solo and Core Duo Macs. You need to have a serial number to use them. Not sure about VirtualBox - I've found a report of 3.1.0 working on a Core Duo though.

I'd recommend Fusion 3 or VirtualBox. You would have to find a version old enough to support the Core Duo but it runs fast and is stable.

The last version of VirtualBox to support 10.6 was 4.3.40; according to the 4.3.40 user manual, it does indeed support 32-bit Snow Leopard, so that means it should work on your Core Duo A1181.

Just be sure to max out the RAM, run your system on an SSD, and have a working battery on your Mac, as it can get quite resource-intensive.
