Is it necessary? I'm new to mac and I have owned my MBP for over a month now and I want to protect it as much as I can. What are the absolute best programs out there that I should install on my mac for protection if necessary?

    Thanks!

You shouldn't need anything, but if you feel safer with software, check out something by Norton.

Nothing. Anything out there will just slow your Mac down. Feel safe for the first time, my friend! Breathe easy! :D

I don't think Norton stuff plays nicely with OS X.

That's becaues Norton slows down any computer. Although MacAfee is no better. It's a good thing we're on the Mac side of things now:D:D:D
