Virus threats transferring files from Windows to iMac

My new iMac should be coming this week, and it will be my first experience owning a mac. I have seen plenty of advice on how to transfer files from my windows pc to a mac, but I haven't seen much posted about virus threats.

Should I be worried about viruses possibly being transferred with my music, movies or files?

The Mac can only act as a carrier for a Windows virus. There are currently no known Mac viruses. You could use something like ClamXav on the Mac side to trap any Window viruses that come across.
