Function is too limited and I cannot draw something new using this version of app. Well, even I don't use a lot of PC version Visio.
It needs a lot to attract more users.

Sweet! Signed up; this will be awesome if I can diagram efficiently diagram while away from my desk. It'll be interesting to see if Visio works well in a touch-based paradigm. MS says the first version will be free for everyone so don't knock it 'til you try it!

This looks to be a view only app as of now. I wonder if they plan to add the ability to update a Visio file from this app

Certainly hope so, as read-only is useless for me. :-(

Got my invite, installed on iPad and had the same result, read-only.

OmniGraffle for iPad is very nice. Best use of touch gestures from all the pro apps I tried. It's a pleasure working with that app. The Pro version reads/writes Visio files.

In fairness to Microsoft, they've done quite well in making Word and Excel for iOS touch-friendly. Too bad the same cannot be said of MS Office for Windows.

I've been saying for quite some time that the Office apps are the best apps on my iPad (YMMV of course, depending on your use case). They really are excellent and I have zero inhibitions about doing edits or creation in them and sending them out, knowing they will be at least as correct as between any other version of office. Even the Mac version is way better than it used to be (ok, ok it sucks less anyway :p)

I just signed up for the Visio beta, though I'm sure I won't make the cut for the first 2000. It does sound quite limited in this release too, so Omnigraffle will stick around if or until editing and creation capabilities make it into MS Visio.

The only things I can do in Visio so far is view a file and search for text. Visio clocks when tapping the search icon so give it a minute if you try it. Without editing capabilities, there isn't much for me to test. :(

That's because the iOS version was built from the ground up. The Windows version was not.

Yup. This is why I'm not overly fond of Windows hybrids. They make for OK laptops but usually deliver poor tablet experience.

I wish they'd make a Windows 10 Mobile tablet if I'm being completely serious. It'd be pretty good.
