I always find it funny when individuals project their own lack of understanding or interest towards new tech as though it were shared by all. I don’t like it? It must be a failure.
The AVP is the gold standard for virtual reality headsets in both hardware and user experience. As a VR enthusiast, nothing compares. When the Vision Pro dropped, every other VR hardware manufacturer quickly shifted to a user experience that roughly mimics it.
I’d be curious to see sales numbers against the overall market for something like the Mac Studio versus other premium media workstation prebuilts, and then draw comparisons against those numbers and the market penetration of the Vision Pro.
I estimate that its success is relatively comparable to Apple’s other super premium devices.
Using the Apple Vision Pro is a phenomenal and almost religious experience to use for the first time, and I say that as someone who has owned many headsets. It’s the first headset that was able to make the -out of the future- experience of pass through learning of Piano, actually enjoyable and not sickening (Pianovision).
If you aren’t the target user, don’t fret. You can still find televisions with dials on them and that may be more your speed. I will on the other hand use a headset with a dial, pretending I am being as productive as the Porsche engineers who regularly use the devices for 3D AR visualization.
