With the visionOS 2.4 update, Apple is making some major enhancements to the Vision Pro, and that includes a new Spatial Gallery app that's available in the beta as of today.

The Spatial Gallery houses spatial photos, spatial videos, and panoramas from artists, filmmakers, and photographers.

Apple is offering a range of content featuring sports, culture, arts, lifestyle, nature, travel, and entertainment, with plans to continue offering additional content in the future. Apple says it plans to provide visual content from top artists, visionary creators, and global brands.

Right now, the Spatial Gallery has options like sea life off of the coast of Southern California, a skydiving video from Red Bull Air Force, videos from ice climbing in Alberta, Canada, and a behind the scenes video from Severance. There are also a number of shot on iPhone spatial images to view.

The Spatial Gallery is available now for Vision Pro owners who have upgraded to the visionOS 2.4 beta.

visionOS 2.4 is set to see a public launch in April, and it will also bring new Apple Intelligence features.

I wonder how much stuff there is to view.

Professional? Probably not that much... will be interesting to see how/if this opens to the community. Spatial photography reminds me of the early days of digital cameras, you can see the promise but the actual utility is hobbled by relatively low resolution.

Yeah. I would like to see how this develops.

would still like to start seeing visible spatial photos on iPhones and iPads

Not sure what you mean... for one, you can already see 'spatial photos' in one's iPhoto library when taken with a linked AVP, but the benefit of spatial photos is they are 3D... 3D cant be easily replicated on those devices. On iPhones spatial photos are in 2D with no benefit, and the pictures are cropped for the 3D effect.

there's no reason they can be visible as 3d with motion on a phone screen the same way Facebook 3d photos have been for the last decade

the pseudo 3D effect in Facebook isn't nearly the same as what you get with spatial photos. On Facebook the illusion fails easily if you focus on a spot within the moving area. that spot doesn't change. in Spatial photos there is true depth. If Facebook '3D' does it for you fine, but it's a cheesy effect when compared to Spatial Photos.

I'm not saying it's the same. I'm saying there's no way they can't do something similar to make spatial photos more identifiable on the phone... or even to add value to shooting spatial considering 1% of us or less actually have vision pro's.

Running that Beta here. It is - what the title says - a gallery with spatial clips and photos. Backstage views from Apple productions, or (professional) creators. Call it a photo album from all over the world with content, you would never see without that gallery. Not always spectacular, sometimes stunning. The pictures in this thread can not really show, what you see. Nothing interactive, just to have a look at.

I am sometimes "spying" at other peoples phones in the subway *cough*, seeing them scrolling trough tiktok or facebook videos. It is something like that: A fine, cureated selection of interesting moments - that's what it is - in immersive though. Just stopped at a simple photo with a view from the top of a mountain - had to step back...

Oh yes... Sitting in my room, in my dark corner, wearing my scuba mask to look at pictures all by myself is my favorite past time. Never mind showing anyone my private stash anymore unless they own their own scuba mask.
It is your free choice to do it or not to do it. You also are free "Mocking the morons" (citation from your signature), if you like to waste your precious time with it. It is all up to you. Just remember: Do not waste your life with things, you do not want to do. Just do the things, you really like.

Does the new app include your own content or is it all curated from Apple?
I thought it was just from Apple but one article I read made it unclear.
I’m super excited about this! Many thanks for the beta testers! 🤓🥰

As there are "not professional" pictures in that gallery, I suppose, there might be an opportunity to submit your own content. There is no option to submit content (yet) as far, as I see.

This is one article that mentions your own content…

Spatial Gallery collects your spatial media in one place

Additionally, Vision Pro users get a new Spatial Gallery app as part of visionOS 2.4 beta 2.

As we reported previously, the app is a dedicated home for all the spatial media you have available: photos, videos, and panoramic shots.

Ok - then I will go on and discover it. The App on the VisionPro just shows me curated content - even with additional text explanations - just like on a dashboard/facebook or alike.
...we are on a Beta, there might be changes.

The very few people who bought the Gen1 HW can now dust off their devices ;l

Yes, I know: That revolutionary Apple Vision Pro is Apple's first spatial computer.

I still don't get most use cases and the battery life is abysmal.

The device still looks like a prototype that shouldn't have been released (or only released to developers).

Maybe I will try it again by Gen4 or Gen5 in 2030+ and at a retail price under $1000.

This article and thread are about a new app that is in beta for Vision Pro. Not sure why you’re rehashing complaints expressed at launch over a year ago.

From the same article " All the content, curated by Apple for Apple Vision Pro users, is free and will be updated regularly."

I can confirm after using it is that as it exists now, the new Spatial Gallery App on the AVP ONLY displays material provided by Apple. There is no provision to add your own to that or with that App. However, the iTunes app on the AVP does have a separate tab for your spatial photography content.
