I haven't been able to see the update on my device. The beta toggle disappeared entirely. Have tried a restart and that didn't do anything either.

I have installed and am using it. Passthrough is MUCH better than it was before. I tinkered with the settings and now my raise eyes to bring up control center is not working. Very confused as to where control center went.. but it did show up when I was using inspaze. LOVE the bora bora environment. so far though very pleased.

Look at your hand - if your palm is up and you touch your fingers, it should take you to your home screen. If you turn your hand over, it shows your your Control Panel. Tap your fingers to bring up the full Control Panel.

I love this new feature. I couldn't stop accidentally bringing up the control center when watching movies as apparently my normal eye movement kept making the AVP think I wanted to open it.

Thank you for explaining it to me rooster80 ! I think I will like being able to open it from that new gesture ! I wish there was a setting in the setting to allow us to also have the old way available too. It is habit now and I think in the last 2 hours I have looked up to open it at least a dozen times. I am just old and once I get a habit settled it takes me a bit to adjust to a new pattern.

I installed it. Some nice quality of life improvements. Seems very stable. Nice new environment with the beach. Much easier to invoke control center and see the settings and time just using your hand and gestures. Better persona. The ability to watch web video in an environment, although you can’t use the cinema environment. You can rename apps and remove iPad apps from a folder and just put them in their own tiles. Other than that, though I don’t really see that many differences, but the differences are definitely nice.

I just updated to the full blown version of 1.2 but I’m not seeing the beta yet. I’ll admit I was very underwhelmed with the synopsis of what’s new from the event earlier today but I admittedly haven’t watched it yet as I just got home from work. I do love the idea of being able to view a more 3D version of existing photos I’ve taken so as soon as I can get it to show up I’ll install it.

I wonder if updating to 1.2 has somehow blocked us from 2.0.

I grabbed the beta right after it went live. I love the new hand functions — very useful.

I noticed everything seems to be running quicker and seems more accurate in terms of eye tracking.

I was using it for an hour before the beta and then an hour after and I could tell it was noticeably faster to open/close/navigate between apps and to type on the on-screen keyboard.

I updated to 1.2 and the system storage is all borked up. And I do see the option to upgrade to v2.0 in dev beta. Might take the plunge tomorrow as I'm already on the fence about selling this thing off anyways. Can't hurt as this update really is super limited, new way to go home and wider aspect ration for Mac screens. Two things that should have been at launch, and a meaningless option for photos being made 3d, meh.

I wonder if the contacts app is now included in OS 2, and some other very basic apps missing from the device. So far it feels like a device in search of a solution to a problem Apple created.... Happy to be proven wrong however!

Any changes to the Photos app? Just curious. I was hoping that videos in Photos would show in an Environment or Cinema

Yep, AVP 2.0 includes the changes they were talking about… took some time to index my library (20,000 pics), but once it did, seemed okay. Still have some exploring to do to find things. The thing that absolutely blew me away is it included the tech to convert my older photos into spatial pics. Worked a lot better than I thought it would, yes you could find artifacts (especially in stray hairs) but it really made portraits pop. I literally spent an hour just looking through my old photos.. it was amazing how this way of looking at pics made me see things i had not seen before.

So if you have 2.0 beta… do check out the spatial photo conversion, its a cube on edge icon.

and not sure if it matters, but i had no problem downloading the beta… but i did not first convert to 1.2, but was running a beta version of that.

You should try it before you knock it… I dont known how important your pics are to you, or what you take pictures of, but I was really impressed and liked what it did for portraits I had taken of friends and family. It wasn’t bad for landscapes either though I noticed more artifacts there.

Hey, what changes did you notice with passthrough? The unit I just received has very bad motion blur, which I had not noticed in previous units I’ve used.

Alright, news from Germany: I just installed visionOS 2.0.

Yesterday, I was pretty underwhelmed by visionOS 2.0 because we’re still missing some basic features. I even posted in another thread that I was ready to sell my Vision Pro.

When I put on the AVP with the beta, I have to admit, the usability took a huge leap forward. Mouse support is a game-changer for productivity. Sure, spatial computing is cool and all, but it’s way more practical with a mouse and keyboard.

The new 3D photos feature is absolutely mind-blowing. I can’t stop looking at photos. I’d love a “convert all photos to spatial photos” button—I’d spend hours in the photos app reliving memories.

Even with VisionOS 2, we’re still missing basic features like iPhone mirroring for seamless integration or even iPhone unlock while wearing the AVP. Still stuck at 60Hz mirroring—total crap at this point. No keyboard visualization while immersed, and the list goes on. And seriously, why no Apple Intelligence? WHY??? The AVP is the perfect device for advanced AI, but we’re not even getting the basics? What a shame.

So, am I keeping the AVP? Probably. As a nerd, I want to see the development over the next 1-2 years firsthand. I bought the AVP for €3800 in Germany as an import 2 months ago, and now my configuration costs at least €4500 if I go the official route—hell no. Once sold, I’d never drop that kind of cash on the AVP again.

Thanks for the update, very helpful! Have any iPad apps (like Home, Calendar, etc) been updated to native? Did you notice any speed increases, or improvements with passthru?

I also was very disappointed with the lack of iPhone mirroring - if any device needs that, it’s the Vision Pro.

I was impressed as well. It converted pics of some recent vacation spots that when you then hit the immersive viewing option after doing the spatial conversion, it’s like being there in person again. Even the scale is pretty on point.

This is really exciting! I take a lot of photos and enjoy looking at them in VP. so it’s covering all of the photos but only for VP I assume? Meaning originals are preserved?

Does the new Photos app handles Folders and Albums well? I have a lot and have put a lot of time into creating them.

Thanks for all the good info!

This is great to hear! I’m excited! I’m glad you’re enjoying your VP more.

Yeah, I was surprised by that. I thought that would be the big upgrade for VP in visionOS 2.0.

I’m still excited overall though!

There is keyboard visualization while immersed in VisionOS 2 beta. And it works!

Now there’s an option to AirPlay to the Vision Pro. I couldn’t get it to work last night, I may have been very tired or simply it’s still in the works.
