is this using iRAM technology? i see no way even a 15k scsi raid could boot that fast...

Even if the OS was loaded up from Flash memory it would not be in 2-3 seconds. Since it would depend on several factors.

Does the "blue screen" count as windows being loaded. Don't know what MS is basing the claim on, its hard to tell.

2-3 seconds? Sure, maybe if you strip off everything but the kernel and GUI, run it on a quad-core 4 GHz processor, using hyperfast RAM that costs thousands of dollars per stick, and boot the actual OS off of the fastest flash memory on the market...

I believe its more around 20 to 30 seconds. They must have forgot the zero's. ;) :)

This is what the page says

Fast On and Off: A Windows Vista computer starts and shuts down as quickly and reliably as a television, typically within 2 to 3 seconds.

Which for my money you can read more than one way.

I guess you've never tried F10-tab on OS X. ;)

Good point.

But it would be handy of the Alt-tab showed Windows instead of just icons for the programs.

Microsoft are aiming at de-throning any kudos OS X Tiger has gotten, but Leopard isnt Tiger. I think Microsoft are in 'panic mode' trying to make sure they cant possibly have forgot to add anything in prep for Leopard. It's no big deal if the Mac OS is superior, only in pride though. I doubt Microsoft are happy making money and having people sneer at Windows when comparing it to OSX.
