hahahaha oh dear, my house mate just walked in, he is running the latest vista, and complains that the last update for windows vista killed his mouse cursor. he cant see it and he cant use it and he has tried 5 different mouses as well. hahahaha oh dear Microsoft, he rang up their help line and they cant help ( says they are 'working on it' ) they also said on the phone this is an isolated problem but after some digging he found that many vista user's are losing there mice! glad i got outta that mess before vista came out! ( sorry if this turns into a vista bashing session! )

Was this Service pack 1 that caused this?

I'm SO glad I've switched. I still have my Vista PC for giggles, but it's rarely used. Just updated it on Friday, but interestingly, SP1 hasn't been offered as an update for it yet, even though it's supposedly out *shrug*.

    Oh well. :)

I actually love Vista now....because its the reason I own a Mac!

I too got fed up with Vista (Im a windows tech mind you and can fix all the goofy stuff usually). One day I was transferring files from one external to another and it said 12 hours! The XP machine I usually did this on only ever took 2 hours....well using the xp machine wasnt an option so I let vista do the transfer. 90% of the way through the transfer failed and I flipped out, it was the last straw in a long list of problems and I held up my laptop and said "Who wants it!? $500!" a guy I work with snapped it up and I went online that moment and ordered a mac and couldnt be happier! (Now everyone in the dept just loves to bash my mac because they for some odd reason hate it even though none have ever used one.)

I had people where I worked doing the same when I first got my MBP. $79 fixed that problem: I bought parallels, and every time someone came to gawk, I ran Windows in its own Window. Instant ****.

A year later, and I've since uninstalled Parallels and Windows on my Mac. And, the office just finished buying several iMacs, Mac Pros, BlackBooks, and an Xserve. :)

Part of what I do also involves fixing Windows-related problems. And it does raise eyebrows among the people I help that I'm carrying around a Mac. :)

I am a consultant and my business is about 90% Windows based - you always get a funny look when you take out a Mac and start managing Windows servers with it :).

chrono1081 - - Please consider this; possible your coworkers don't hate your Mac, they actually hate the insanity that Macs seem to create is some users.

Imagine the reaction that you would get if you walked into a Mac office with a Dell laptop to manage their machines! It would sound like a bunch of over-caffeinated 14-year olds reviling the Devil!

If he's not-the-type-of-friend-to-kill you could always do some old-school tricks and make him get a mac. :D

Download some PC software which has a virus. Rename it to "notTHATpicture.jpg.exe" Say, " Mate, I'm just sending you this funny picture"..

"Wowie, that was a close one! It has the extension.exe - it's a virus. Lucky my mac picked it up, or you'd be toast. Now get me some drink btch.

This entire thread exemplifies why some Mac users are referred to as fanbois.

Y'all don't seem to realize how much damage you're doing to the Apple community. How would you feel if your Macintosh crashed and your friends took great pleasure in laughing at you and your computer?

Please cease and desist your childish behavior toward Windows users.

yes, 100% agree, there is no reason to be happy just because your friend's pc crashed...It does not help anything.

and OP, you need to realize, you don't even get a chance to change your cursor in OSX.

I'm sure 10.5.3 will bring a whole host a trouble for some users.

Please cease and desist your sense of humor, only having a laugh with him. I bet he finds it well funny. People like you make the world a very miserable place. A bit of banter between the Windees and the OSX group is great fun, sometimes gets a bit serious but you can only take this as funny.

There's no need to cry about it, jeez. We're having a laugh withthe OP and someone has a pain in their ass. I myself couldn't live without Windows or Mac - Mac just happens to be the better choice for me of the two. You can't change an opinion.

They can't help it. They're Mac users.

This problem seems to be - once again, when will these clowns actually get their heads around Vista - NVidia. Isn't it weird? When a printer or display driver has a problem with Leopard, it's the manufacturer's fault because it can't be Apples unless the evidence is overwhelming. When a printer or display adapter has a problem with Vista, it's Microsoft's fault.

It's no wonder that so many people are moving to Mac - given the utterly dumb comments I read on the blogosphere for starters, it really is the platform they are more suited to.

Well, this is based in a lack of understanding about how the whole thing works.

Partly, it IS Microsoft's fault. Why?

Vista is their de facto OS now. How exactly can they (MS) not strong arm developers into doing a better job at supporting their hardware/software on the Vista platform? Throw money at them. Throw incentives at them. Do something. Vista has been out for 17 months, and yet.. it's still hard to find drivers for some hardware.

But partly, it is the developer's fault.

Microsoft has made it abundantly clear that Vista is it. And yet, a lot of developers seem to have their panties in a twist because Vista is different enough to make it a pain in the butt to fix some drivers/software. As if Windows XP will last forever.

Personally, I have had issues with Vista. But my problems are all hardware related. Lack of decent drivers the function well for Vista. And issues with Vista SP1. I had to install it in Safe Mode on my main rig. But what the OP saw with his buddy? I'd call it an aberration. Definitely not the norm.

10.5.2 made MainStage suck. It was previously very stable, and now it's unusable. Luckily, I also have Reason 4...
