Repair permissions and try to reinstall from the download.

Take a deep breath and if that still didn't work, go back and try the non-IDE approach from the thread I linked above.

g++ is probably working fine.

Thanks B - Feeling better this morning...

How do I do a repair permissions?

step detail if you could

I am also updating too, almost done with that, then I will restart,

The update and the repair did not resolve the issue.
Have you reinstalled Xcode after the update and repair?

Can you check if any more info is displayed in Console? (Hit Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the corner) and type "Console").

If there is an error message there, copy and post it here.

I just want uninstall all of the Xcode stuff I downloaded.
I am borrowing a PC from a friend, already got visual studios up and running.

I have found the instructions, figured out what the terminal is,

pasted in

sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all

But the terminal is asking for a password

The terminal does not let me type the password in it.

It does not let me type in anything in fact, the only thing the bloody thing responds to is enter.

I pressed enter three times

"sude three incorrect password attempts"

WELL COMPUTER I CAN'T EVEN ENTER ANYTHING INTO YOUR SO CALLED TERMINAL with keystrokes

Is my computer retarded?

Then ALL the windows of the crap I downloaded opened at once,,,ALL of them, except Xcode

isn't that cute

I stopped counting at thirty separate distinct window/programs

SORRY,Thanks

When you run a command using sudo you need to enter your password. It will not be displayed when you enter it. This protects it, or even its length, from being captured by an on-looker. You just need to enter your account password and press enter.

I don't know what all the windows of the crap you downloaded entails, but maybe you clicked the finder icon in the dock or accidentally pressed a key combination the invoked expose? Either way, unlikely that there's a problem with the computer that caused this.

In any event, while it is sometimes frustrating, programming requires a lot of patience and a lot of wrangling with tools to make things work. You should be prepared for that if you intend to do it longterm.

Good luck.

Edit: looks like you got it uninstalled. I'd say it would be worth trying again from scratch, but it sounds like you have another solution.

I am having trouble discerning the legitimacy of this. It seems like it may be genuine... So... when you run a command using sudo you need to enter your password. Ok- I think it is like nothing ever happened

After I copied and pasted the password in the terminal-bash-80X24 +enter
it went nuts -

funny thing is now the terminal is letting my type freely

All that seems to be left is three icons on my desktop

I am sorry for all the hubbub.., part of me is terrified I will do poorly in this class which is why I posted with such urgency.

Thank you guys, again the good will around here is a great thing! (especially B and Lee!!!!!)
