    I just jailbroke my 2.1 ...
My visual voicemail is no longer working.
When I click on voicemail it dials the voicemail number instead of showing the visual voicemail screen.

Any ideas why this is happening..?
    Better yet..any fixes?

when it gets to the number does it have to reset the password or something

reason being this is what mine did too and it just needed me to put in the password again

it dials the number for voicemail as soon as I press then voicemail button and then the voice prompts me directly to my messages..it doesn't ask for a password or pin

Call your phone and leave yourself a voicemail.

Wait for your phone to ask for your password.

    Enter your password.

Just curious- why didn't you upgrade to 2.2 before you jailbroke?

This is what happens when you have no network connection. Is your Edge/ 3G turned off, by chance?

Try going to AT+T online...your acount and resetting the voicemail password...it will send you a text...after I followed the steps...my voicemail started working again...

I'm from Canada, and we use rogers... I've been on the phone with them... they've removed my voicemail package and added it on again... i've tried resetting the voice mail retrieval number... and nothing... I get someone to leave me a message, the little red dot appears for a second, and then goes away.... nothing shows up in the voice mail screen.... If I go to the dialer and press and hold "1" I can dial in, and get the message the person sent...

Did you, by any chance, install one of these tweaks that modify your carrier icon? I had this happened to me, once I uninstalled the custom "Movistar" carrier bundle, things got a little crazy (like things not working, or me getting popup messages about call diversion that had never been shown before).

I had a carrier bundle installed but I have recently removed it... What is fishy though is when I go into winterboard and uncheck the options I have active, and then respring, the voice mail goes from getting the menu with no messages to directly calling the voice mail.... So something is definitely !@#$ in there... I'm going to try and re jailbreak, get a clean slate and try that... see if It does anything.

The thing is that when you have a carrier bundle installed, and uninstall it later, it doesn't go back to your default carrier bundle. That's what happened to mine. I had to manually copy the carrier bundle in my computer to the iphone and the restore the symlinks.

Try this. Call the iPhone's number from the iPhone. It should go to voicemail setup. You must go through the entire setup. At the end of the setup, it asks you to push 2 (or something) to disconnect.

I had the AT&T rep on my landline while I went through this. She said the the Visual Voicemail sometimes has problems with the message.

Well, I have the voice mail working again... I rejailbroke the phone back to a fresh 2.2... I'm going to start installing my apps from Cydia to see what was giving me a problem... but I think it was that carrier bundle...

    we'll see what happens.
