I recently upgraded my VLC but in doing so I have encountered an error with VisualHub.

I use VisualHub 1.23 and typically use it to convert AVI files MP4s for my PSP. A while back I encountered a problem in VHub where it would only partially convert the AVIs. ie. A file with a target size of 400Mb would turn up as a 192Mb file (half the video missing). This problem was soon remedied when i used 'Force VLC Decoding' in the Advanced option. However, recently I updated to a new version of VLC and after doing so I've been receiving an odd error when using 'Force VLC Decoding'. The error says something about a bad pipe and unknown format. So... I re-installed the earlier version of VLC but the error still occurs....

Does anyone out there know what's wrong? Why can I no longer force VLC decoding? I even upgraded my VisualHub to 1.34 and still gives me the same error when I try to Force VLC Decoding. I really would appreciate to have the ability to Force VLC decoding so I can successfully convert AVIs to PSP Mp4 format again. If posting the VisHub error LOG would help someone to solve problem I can post it.

By the way, when I force QT or FFMPEG decoding that video gets cut short too.

Even if no one can solve this problem, an alternative to encoding AVI to PSP Mp4s would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies. I've tried Handbrake but didn't really like it. After using VisualHub going to Handbrake is a serious step backwards. I have upgraded to VisualHub 1.34 but I still encounter the same error not allowing me to force VLC decode. And if I leave it, the output file is only half there.

So, Transcoder Redux is the new name for the open source VHub? Is this downloadable anywhere?

I found another program called Video Converter that seems to do the trick...but it doesn't autoname the output file in PSP format like VHub does...that was a real nice feature considering the titles have to be something between MAQ00000 and MAQ99999 (or M4V prefix for non AVC encodes)

I'd really like to get my VisualHub working properly again as it was fine before I upgraded my VLC. If anyone has experienced something similar to my problem with VHub or knows how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks again!:apple:

Try emailing Tyler - I believe he was providing support after he closed the doors for a limited period. I'm sure he'll give you a hand.
