Hi there! Just wanted to introduce you to the latest version of my macOS system monitor utility.

VitalSigns 3 is a clean and minimalist system monitor for macOS Big Sur.

It's a free alternative to other, more complex solutions. It doesn't overwhelm you with lots of system stats and variables. Instead, it focuses on the most relevant parameters: temperatures, fan speeds and memory usage. And it's fully customizable.

Features
  • Fully customizable dashboard: You can configure it to show only the data you want to see.
  • Temperature Alerts: Get notified whenever the CPU and/or GPU exceeds a temperature limit.
  • Compact Mode: An even more minimalist style for small displays.
  • Sensor selection: for system components that have several sensors available.
  • Dark Mode support, auto-updates and more...

VitalSigns 3 is free, and of course, it's been notarized by Apple, which means that the app is clean and trustworthy. At the moment, it requires an Intel-based Mac. Support for M1 is in the works (I'm currently looking for M1 beta-testers).

A bit of history
VitalSigns has been around since 2015. It initially worked as a small widget in the macOS Notification Center.

When Apple released Big Sur, it dramatically changed the way widgets work, which made it impossible to update the widget contents in real-time. I had to re-write the app almost from scratch, and also move it to the macOS status bar. The old version for macOS Catalina and earlier is still available, although it's no longer supported.

If you have any suggestions to improve the app, please let me know. I'm a small indie developer, and VitalSigns is just a hobby project that I work on in my free time, but I'll do my best to implement your requests. Thank you!

Added M1 support (beta).

Since I don't own a M1 Mac, I had to implement and test the code using my iPhone, which has the same temperature sensors as the M1. Almost :)

Testers report that sensor detection and temperature readings are working fine on M1 machines. If you have a M1 MacBook Pro or Mac Mini and would like to try the beta, please let me know. Thanks.

I have a 16gb 1tb SSD MI Mac Mini. Happy to run the beta if still available

Hi Topgazza, the current version (3.0.10) has M1 support. Right now it shows the average temperature for the CPU (efficiency + performance cores), GPU, SoC, SSD, PMU and battery. The option to let you choose between average and peak temperatures will come in the next version.

Feel free to contact me if you want to report any bugs. Thanks!.

Hi, I don't know why, but since a moment, I (or we) can't access to the site. You can repair this?

Nice app !

It will be better if the icon can changed for something else like temperature / fans speed etc.

I would like to see temperature without left click.

BTW i like it.
