More of an FYI than a question...the latest VLC seems to have issues playing hi-res content. About 30 minutes into watching a 1080p file, it was consuming almost all of the computer's memory.

A quick google search revealed I'm not the only one with the issue and it's posted on VLC's board...if you're having similar issues, reverting back to 1.0.5 (available for DL on VLC's website) fixes the problem. Hopefully they'll sort things out soon!

I posted it to the VLC forums about 2 days after the 1.1.0 release.

I submitted a trac bug (actually a few), but haven't really had time to compile extensive data on the issue. If you could, go on trac, confirm it in comments, and provide as much data as possible.

Ticket is here.

If you could provide a sample, or the file itself; logs, reports, screen shots, anything at all, then please do. Right now they think its purely down to flawed input, which you and I clearly don't believe, hence why reverting to 1.0.5 fixes the problem.

If anyone else can provide data as well that would be appreciated.

Check out these tickets too, and help if you can:
