ok i'm on the web site to download VLC. There is a Universal Binary to download and a Web Browser plugin for Intel. Which one do i download.

The universal binary download VLC to play anything i want. Just open with VLC or drag it to the VLC. What about Web Browser plugin?

Does that mean that if there is a video that my mac cannot play, VLC will take over and play it without downloading the app itself?.. Please help.

Well first which type of Mac do you have? Intel or PPC?

The binary will play videos you download to the hard drive and the browser plug-in will play videos that you want to play streaming through a website (oddly enough).
