VLC Desktop Video

[mi.mac.rules]

There's an easy to access option in VLC for windows (under video -> something -> DirectX) that plays the video as your desktop background, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this on Mac.

That only works with directx on msWin - not on OS X as far as I can tell.
