when i'm going back and forth at the playback bar, when playing videos, vlc would also play loud screeching sounds that makes my ears hurt.

that playback bar is the bar to the right of the play/pause buttons, right underneeth the title, and has a diamond inside it to show the video's place.it is above the volume slider, and playlist and equalizer buttons. dunno what's it called. strange because i use it a lot.

VLC's default audio settings may be most annoying in your system. However, it has a myriad of Preferences... audio settings. DVD audio in my installation of VLC was unbearable until I found a switch in VLC>Preferences... that fixed it.

what exactally is it? does it work with all media types? i'm using 0.8.5 official BTW.

i'm sorry to bump this thread, but it IS a problem that i need to fix soon. the screeching is unbearable.
