VLC lag with 10.6

Ever since switching to 10.6, I'm getting a ton of lag watching videos with vlc. I am not running other programs at the same time, and the activity monitor shows plenty of ram free.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Have you downloaded the latest version in 32 bit? The 64bit version has some serious bugs on the mac.

I'm running the latest 32bit version of vlc (1.0.2) in SL (32bit kernel) and it still stutters.

Yeah, I checked what I was running. Lots of stuttering. This shouldn't be happening on a C2D macbook with 3.4gb of ram! ahh apple, fix your OS
