Damn, VLC doesn't work in iOS5!

Screen flickers for a millisecond, then nothing happens.

Is there any way to fix it? (preferred)

Or any other video player that can play AVI (some with H264)...

PS: I meant, storing on the iPad, not streaming.

buzz player is the best i have used so far...it even plays network files (if you have a NAS) and has an integrated web browser where you can play some divx videos directly from the web and even megaupload.

I use AVPlayer. Its handled everything I've thrown at it.

    i'd recommend goodplayer.

the dev is highly active in the "iPad apps" subforum here at macrumors and open for any kind of feedback.

it even handles 720p mkv files well on the iPad2, does external subtitles, has an FTP server aswell as an FTP client, etc. etc. etc.

    trust me, get goodplayer.

you can even stream FLV vids or .avis that are on your dropbox.

    it's just really really good.

What it lacks in visual polish, it compensates in functionality

    How I reinstall?

Now I installed OPlayerHD Free. Seems to be very similar to VLC. I am happy for now.

I've used and bought them all (literally).

I've settled on Goodplayer as the definite winner. Aside from just being a fantastic player, the dev is exceedingly responsive and pushes out updates constantly. He's active in this thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1127455

    Update:

Recall: after installing iOS5 on the old iPad VLC didn't start. There were also 15 apps that needed updating (isn't my iPad, so didn't had the pw).

I installed OPlayerHD Free (quite ok, not not sure if the ads will annoy later, last night was just a grey box).

Anyway, then suddenly this morning VLC did open again and runs fine. Not sure if it was related to updating those 15 apps (VLC wasn't one of them).

I got tired waiting for a suitable Android device so I reluctantly bought an iPad 3 to sweeten the wait. Obviously VLC is gone (and to move it from the not mine iPad seems troublesome), so I installed "HD Player"...:

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hd-player/id483866500?mt=8

It's (ad) free and feels very similar VLC, but has more functions. (Which is not so difficult as VLC had no functions, other then to view a video).

Here's a thread detailing my comparison of a number of different player apps
    including VLC.

It's a bit dated, but I too concluded Good Player is the best, but there are a few new programs I'm going to test and see what I think.
