If everything goes to plan, I should have my new MacBook Pro 14" tomorrow.

In preparation I've been looking into how I can virtually run windows on the new M1 pro processor. The problem is there's so much mixed information, I'm more confused then when I started.

Can I anyone confirm which of the 3 softwares mentioned in the title definitely run windows and will I need to download a customised ARM version of Windows to do this? If thats the case do I need to buy a new windows license for this customised version? Any advise would be much apprecieted!

Will definitely give this a try tomorrow. I'm guessing licensing isn't an issue as its a "preview program"? Just thinking ahead and don't want windows to start asking me for a serial key a few weeks down the line.

Not sure about this, think you'll need to enter a Windows 10 key when setting it up. But I could be wrong.

I am currently using a MacBook Pro 2021 with M1 Pro processor (received today), and the installation assistant will not acknowledge the VHDX file is an operating system, and then will immediately fail when attempting to install. I spoke with Parallels Live Chat and they were very unhelpful. They said "we don't have an update for the M1 Pro chip" in 10 different ways without any other info. @RacMumors- any luck?

It's the App Store Edition which advertises as Parallels for M1. I doubt the App Store Edition would be the cause of the issue but perhaps?

I do the same, but on hetzner.com. You can get a 16gb always-on machine for around $20 per month.
@Kimcha - thanks I was not aware of hetzner.com but the price I see for 16GB is EUR18 / month plus usage and according to them they don’t support Windows?

I’m using the cloud CX41 option for 18.92 euros. That’s about $22.

You can also start out with a smaller and cheaper config and then scale it bigger when you need to and scale it down when you don’t.

You just need to make sure you start out with a small one that has a small SSD as you can’t scale to a smaller size.

Windows is not officially supported, but fairly easy to install. There are YouTube videos showing you how.

Just make sure to use a version that supports Remote Desktop.

I used windows server 2018, but if I had to do it again I would go for windows 10. I think the pro version supports Remote Desktop.

You will also need a windows license or you can run it inactivated.

Well that was easy.... Upgraded to latest Parallels... downloaded the Insider Preview and leave it to install. Done.
