Why is the demo painfully slow?

(running civ 5 via mac is fine

Your system is pretty weak running a game within a virtual machine.

Run it with Bootcamp.

I didn't find a way to run win 8 demo in bootcamp though managed the virtual dvd drive settings for vmware
