VMware Fusion 12 Now Available With macOS Big Sur Support and More

VBox is slower. At least for me it is.

also VMware Fusion is free for personal use.

I gave up on VirtualBox partly due to speed, but mainly because the network would only work when it felt like it.

For me it was the GUI when running Linux guests. Half of the time it kept the original size and resolution when changing the windows size. Speed was also not good.

Happy now with VMWare Fusion 12. Parallels was great but the constant “gravy train” of expensive upgrades got to me. Fusion had “pay for this version” far less often.

Starting with version 12, it was just this month, I think, they announced it. I had 11.5 (Mojave) but moving to Catalina meant I could go to Fusion 12. It was NOT worth moving to Catalina!

well, i got it installed already and its still unusable. what VMware did was to "bypass" Apple requirement to use VMCS

12.1 Pro is running extremely well for me on a Catalina 10.5.7 19H2 host with both Windows 10 20H2 and Big Sur 11.0.1 guests. Older OS' continue to function without issue. Big Sur continues to have some strange UI bugs.

12.1 on 15.10.7 is flawless. was horrible on 11.0.1
