I am running and older version of VMWare Fusion (7.1.3) and a fully patched version Windows 10 in a virtual machine using Fusion. I just upgraded the Windows 10 VM to the latest Creators update and ended up with just a black screen in the Windows VM. I took a snap shot of the Windows 10 VM before I upgraded, so I've been able to do a roll back and some testing. I found a solution that worked for me, so I'm passing it along. The Windows VM had the default version of VM Tools that came with Fusion 7.1.3 and that turned out to be the issue. The video driver included in that default set of VMTools didn't work with the Creators update. The solution was to download the latest version of VMTools (VMware-tools-10.1.5-5055683-x86_64) from VMWare.com (login to the site required) and install it in the Windows 10 VM prior to applying the Windows Creators update. The Windows Creators Update then installed without issue.
