VMWare Fusion error starting Xp VM

Ok using VMware fusion 3.1.3

I have an XP Pro VM which has been fine (not loaded it lately ) but does work under Lion till now:


Tonight I get message "Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory." when starting the VM followed by:

"Failed to initialize monitor device."

"Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to"

Anyone have any ideas?

I'n running VMware Fusion 4.<latest> and have the same problem. I found an article on the VMware forums that say you should start by repairing disk permissions (using the Mac OS Disk Utility) or reinstall Fusion:

I just finished the disk permission repair, no change, I still get the same prob. I'll try a restart soon ...
