VMWare Fusion

I upgraded my VMWare Fusion from 8.0 to 10 and was told version 10 doesn't support my system (iMac 27" Late 2009).

Downgraded back to VMWare Fusion and now when I go to open my VM I get this error:

Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory. Please make sure that the kernel module 'vmoon' is loaded.

No clue what I need to do, I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Created a new VM and still get the error.

Thank you, I ended up going into recovery mode and repairing the disk permissions and it worked.
