Both VMWare and Parallels are supposed to support booting from a Boot Camp partition-obviously a great idea, since then you can use the same Windows install both in Boot Camp and from within OS X.

My concern is-do either of these programs deal with activation issues that that would cause? The system would appear different under Boot Camp than under VMWare/Parallels, and I'd assume that would trigger Window's charming activation.

Do either of those programs somehow get around that issue?

I had to activate again. Others didn't have to. I called the toll free number in the activation prompt and talked to a recording. I told them I had a motherboard change and they let me use the key again.

A friend called MS directly and told them he was having trouble with Boot Camp and they gave him a new key.

I regularly use VMWare with my BC partition, after moving from Parallels 3.

There are no activation issues with either that I've experienced...

Wouldn't you have to then activate AGAIN when you boot to Windows directly?

Are you using a version of Windows that requires activation? Like you did have to activate it once through Boot Camp, and then can switch back and forth without it prompting you to reactivate?
