I use OSX VNC and it works fine for what I do at the moment - leave the computer on with the server running and VNC in from anywhere.

But soon I'm going away for a while. I want to leave my user account (in Tiger) running in the background whilst my sister is logged in so I can get to my desktop from a remote location. But when I fast user switch to my sister's account the server reinitialises because of the change in screen resolution and doesnt seem to work properly thereafter.

If I try and VNC in whilst the server is running in my account (that is only running in the background) I just get a black screen on the remote machine.

Can anyone recommend a solution to what I'm trying to achieve?

Thanks in anticipation

What I do for that is run OSX VNC on both accounts with a slightly different port number, then I use one account to switch to the other and then switch which VNC I'm using. It's not clean, but it works.
