I have a bunch of medical school videos that need to be played on my macbook. However, they are just a bunch of .vob, .ifo, and .bup files and VLC doesn't seem to play them. It just opens up a video screen and closes abruptly. There is no Video_TS folder. The folder's name is "Microbiology 1" and inside are all the files. Any ideas?

Try using MPEG Streamclip (freeware) to convert the VOB files. You'll need to have the QT MPEG-2 Playback Component installed on your system for it to work.

In the folder do you have the files "VIDEO_TS.IFO" and "VIDEO_TS.VOB"? If you have these files and a succession of VTS_01,02 etc then all you will have to do is create a folder called VIDEO_TS and then drop all the files from the microbiology folder into it. Then you can play with VLC or DVD Player by selecting the new video_ts folder.
