I use my iPhone as my main source of music in my car - connecting it to my stereo's aux input. One of the reasons I upgraded from the first gen phone was to use voice command in the car so I didn't have to scroll through my music while driving

It seems that the monster cable that I use to connect my phone to the stereo makes the phone think it has a mic attached to the head phone jack. This makes voice command useless since its listening for a headphone mic. Tried it out in a different car with just a simple radio shack stereo-stereo cable and the mic at the bottom of the phone still works.

Any way to force the phone to use the speaker mic instead of trying to find a mic through the head phone jack?

note: switching out my cables isn't really an option since that would involve removing the stereo and such

Thanks for the redirect - my apologizes for not searching well.
