voice messages in iMessage

This may be as stupid question, but can non beta devices receive the voice message in I message or only devices on ios 8? Ie wife on ios 7.

Yes as in iOS 7 (or even 6 or earlier) can receive these messages and they appear as some sort of media messages in the Messages app that can be played back right there?

How would they? At least not in the same way that iOS 8 allows for.

Well its an iOS8 feature...... Previous iphone models with iOS8 will be able to.

I sent a voice message to Galaxy S4 and friend was able to play it back.

Well the only person I know that will have iOS 7 (or below) by iOS 8 release, is my mum because of her iPhone 4. Although she also has an iPad 3...

This sucks though. How is group messaging going to work with iOS 7 users and below?

Its going to work the same as it always has. They just wont have the extra options.
