Voice over WiFi

It is so cool to be able to turn off Cellular Antenna at home and still be able to use Facetime Audio for phone calls over WiFi. If only this worked with VOIP land phones, etc.

Does any of the new LTE tech like VoLTE allow Voice over WiFi for all Voice communication devices? If Facetime Audio works over cellular & WiFi, will VoLTE work over cellular & WiFi as well at some point in the future?
