I would like to buy a pocket sized voice recorder for my Mom so she can record stories of her youth and email them to me (or copy them to my iDisk). Problem is, there seem to be precious few digital recorders that claim to work with Macs!

Has anyone found an inexpensive, easy to use recorder that will create files she can download to her PC, then send me so that I can edit/complile them on my Mac?

Thanks!

The Griffin iTalk will let you record wav files to your iPod, and then transfer to your Mac. I assume if your iPod is paired with a PC it should work the same.

Of course, an iPod offers a lot more functionality than just a voice recorder, and costs accordingly, so I recognize that this might not be the best option unless one of you already has an iPod ready for this, or wants another excuse to get one.

As for the quality, it is fine for your application. Mine works ok, but I have had some trouble getting good sound from attached external mics (which you will not need to use anyway). Check its specs on the site for more details. Retailers sell it for less than the listed price.
