Voicemail Delay

Why does it take around 5 minutes to receive a voicemail from someone who left a message? Is this an AT&T issue? iPhone issue?

Not so with my last phone, a T-Mobile contracted Razor...that thing was immediate.

Sometimes it takes it a little while to actually download the message from AT&T so that it will display in visual voicemail. 5 minutes isn't uncommon for me.

I had really bad lag when I first got my phone - but now it's basically almost real-time-ish most of the time.

i have had some be as bad as the next day when i get the voice mail. if i miss a call i dont get a voicemail and figure it wasnt too important and i will talk to them later.... then i get a time sensitive voicemail. lame.
