VoIP over EDGE

I've got the voIP over 3G substrate installed but I'm actually curious if theres a way to trick something like nimbuzz to work over EDGE as oppose to 3G?

UPDATE: Never mind it seems to be quirk in the hack it sometimes works over EDGE.

VoIP can work over EDGE, but EDGE's high latency will make the experience pretty irritating.
