you mean you wrote that article and all?

No I designed and modeled/illustrated the products in the article :)

We discussed doing a VW as the iCar, but decided the Audi was far cooler ultimately - Just thought I'd throw it in the discussion.

I agree. Although my Beetle has been back to the dealer a few too many times.... i'd buy it again.

I've driven 2 Toyotas since 1996 -- I only sold the one because buying the 2nd would help an elderly aunt -- and I've never had to take either of them to a dealer. I do get my cars serviced on schedule, like it recommends in the manual, at a Toyota repair shop, but they have given me no trouble at all. The 96 remains sturdy and so is my 2000.

iCar kept crashing and exploding!

Thing didnt even have a steering wheel, it was voice controlled. If the "driver would cough or sneeze the car would lose control and crash!

In August, a rumor circulated that Apple and Volkswagen were in early meetings to work on incorporating Apple products into Volkswagen compact cars. The most recent reports, coming from PressPortal.de indicate that the project is "shaky" but that Apple has been in talks with other car manufacturers.

I would much rather have a Mac OS (and thus Unix) powered car then a Microsoft powered car, so please if any car makers are thinking of controlling part of the car with a operating system dependent application please consider negotiating with Apple. I have already seen ads for one car that has some kind of Microsoft Sync feature and I can only hope that that is as deep as the Microsoft control goes as the day when my car looses control due to a BSOD would not be a happy one for me...

Apple will not work with VW for the iCar because they are not an exclusive brand...they are now considering Austin Martin :D

Why Volkswagen? They're terribly unreliable of late (source: Consumer Reports). Of course, now that I think about it, that makes sense...

Thats a good one...??
Ok. If you really believe that statement then why do you own so many apple products? Is there something recently that has swayed your opinion?

Just wondering...

Side track from silly thread about car name but ... You state ... " Americans aren't particularly fond of the sport. " You have to by kidding right? I have lived in the USA for many years now and I can tell you, more play people Golf here than I ever saw in UK (and I lived close to Glen Eagles and St. Andrews!) Americans absolutely love golf!

"Well, it was called Golf until this model year. It seems that after years of marketing research they found that Americans aren't particularly fond of the sport."

It was a joke man. I have a dry sense of humor I guess. I mean, who would do years of marketing research to determine Americans' feelings about a sport?
